Consider Building

Building: A Time For Collaboration
And Discovery

Exterior Home PhotoWorking with a custom builder doesn’t have to be a headache—it should be a collaboration of ideas that result in making your dream home a reality. With Farinelli, you can feel confident that Don Farinelli and his team of master builders will not only advise you about the process, but they will listen.

Every client has different preferences and we tailor our services based on those preferences. The process of building generally follows these steps:

1. FIRST, WE LISTEN.
Like any relationship, we need to get to know each other better. We’ll ask a lot of questions and we’ll listen carefully. What style of home do you prefer? Does this style of home fit into your lifestyle? What future plans do you have? Our wish is to uncover the perfect solution. A home that is both fitting for your lifestyle and a reflection of your personality. We’ll encourage you to show us your wish list and to determine a budget that will work for you.

2. NEXT, WE’LL CHOOSE A BUILDING SITE.
We have extensive knowledge of Central PA, and are prepared to assist you with selecting a building site that is perfect for you. Some prefer panoramic city views. Others like to be near rivers and streams. Still others enjoy the interaction and sense of community that a development offers. Whatever your preferences, we can help you find the perfect site.

3. NOW, THE EXCITING PART: THE DESIGN PROCESS.
A Farinelli professional will meet with you on your selected lot to discuss house orientation, room layout and ways to maximize any available views. Farinelli has an Interior Designer and Certified Kitchen Designer on staff to assist you with designing your home’s interior. With all this in mind, Farinelli can gather all these facts and move on to the next step.

4. PRELIMINARY PLANS ARE CREATED.
Farinelli will meet with you as the design of your new home begins to come together. Like an editor to a writer’s first draft, you’re free to make as many revisions as necessary in the process.

5. NEXT, THE PLANS GO OUT TO BID.
The competitive bidding process assures you that you’re getting the best price and minimizes the uncertainty of unforeseen costs. Farinelli, however, uses the services of outside contractors minimally. With a full staff of carpenters, plumbers and other building professionals, Farinelli is essentially a one-stop-shop. Our clients have found that we stay close or under budget. If things come up as we progress, we always inform you along the way.

6. A FORMAL, WRITTEN PROPOSAL IS PROVIDED TO YOU.
This proposal states a lump sum contract price. It specifies the allowances for things like interior finishes, fixtures, cabinets and appliances. Farinelli also provides you with a construction contract for your review.

7. FINALLY, WHEN YOU'RE HAPPY WITH THE PROPOSAL.
The contract is signed by you and Farinelli. Construction begins as soon as possible after the building permit is secured. Most homes take from five to six months to complete the construction. Rest assured that we will keep you informed about the progress of your home every step of the way.
