Different Homes For Different Lifestyles

Too many of today’s homes are just cookie cutter replicas that lack individuality and character. Every Farinelli-built custom home is different. Each home is built based on the unique tastes and needs of the owner.

Before we build, we ask the homeowners a lot of questions. How do they live? Are they empty nesters? Do they have a large family? The answers to these questions help us determine what design will work best.

So, whether you’re looking for a home with the flavor of a turn-of-the-century farmhouse or your tastes lean toward the simple lines of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture—a Farinelli home will be in sync with your unique style.

Our Design Team Helps You Envision Your Home

Sometimes it can be difficult for homeowners, who are not used to working with floor plans, to envision what their home will actually look like. That’s why Farinelli Construction’s design team creates detailed drawings of the home exterior and interior prior to construction. The drawings provide the homeowner with a better visualization of what each room will look like when it is completed.

The Peninsula, Mechanicsburg
Size: 4,000 square feet

The grand foyer of Farinelli Construction’s model home in The Peninsula is a prelude to the understated elegance found throughout. The two-story foyer features a wide staircase and raised-panel wainscoting, ornately carved moldings, and an Italian marble floor.

A library/study is accented by built-in shelving on either side of a marble-surrounded gas fireplace, and silky draperies gather stylishly on the floor at each of the room’s two windows.

KitchenThe dining room offers the first glimpse of the smooth bamboo floors found here as well as in the first-floor hallways and kitchen. A built-in china cabinet offers convenience, and fabric panels matching the draperies adorn the walls,
all of which are trimmed with the same ornate moldings found throughout the house. A tray ceiling offers the perfect setting for the room’s focal point, a stunning crystal chandelier. A second doorway from the dining room leads into the kitchen and breakfast area, where an abundance of space is made functional by a carefully planned two-tiered center island located within easy reach of cupboards and appliances. The five-burner gas stove features a scroll-carved hood. The room’s large bay windows in the breakfast area and atrium doors leading to a mahogany deck let natural light pour in. Just off the breakfast area is a sunny laundry room and doorway to the side-entry, three-car-plus garage.

Living RoomThe family room can be accessed from either the kitchen or the front hallway, and features large windows offering a view of the 1.7 acre, partially wooded lot. A marble-surrounded gas fireplace and built-in shelving offer convenience as well as exceptional style with their elaborate trim work. The ceiling is two stories high, lending a casual, airy feeling to the room.

A hallway leads to the first-floor master suite, providing privacy for parents and convenience for empty nesters. The master bathroom offers unparalleled luxury, with tile warmers on the marble floor, a large shower stall fitted with gleaming brass fixtures, a Jacuzzi trimmed with raised paneled woodwork and sculptured tile, a separate water closet and built-in cherry cabinetry around the sink and vanity. The huge walk-in closet is conveniently located off the bathroom and equipped with a complete closet organization shelving system.

BathroomThe second floor of the home can be accessed by the grand front stairway or a back staircase thoughtfully located between the family room and kitchen. Arched overlooks frame both sides of a hall leading to the three upstairs bedrooms and bonus room. All of the bedrooms offer direct access to a bathroom. The second floor also features a cedar closet and a bonus room with built-in cabinetry.

This home features a state-of-the-art home management system that controls everything from temperature to lighting to security. Each room is internally wired to support telephone, data, and satellite communications, and key living areas feature a built-in sound system. Separate heating systems are in place for the first and second floors.

As a model/spec home, it showcases the best of what Farinelli Construction has to offer in terms of intricate finishing details and behind-the-scenes quality engineering. It seamlessly combines many elements without appearing disjointed or overdone, and its neutral, but elegant style lends it wide appeal.

Timber Frame Home

Home ExteriorLindenwood, Mechanicsburg
Size: 5,200 square feet

This home is an architect designed Greek Revival Farmhouse built using a combination of construction techniques. The house joins traditional post and beam construction with modern stick-built construction to create a unique family home. Like the rich Greek countryside, the home evokes warmth and comfort. Fiber-cement siding to resemble clapboard and a metal roof give this new construction a sense of history. Farinelli Construction completed all carpentry work on this home with our own employees.

KitchenA large, brick covered porch wraps around the home creating a welcoming atmosphere. Exposed fir beams define the internal spaces and reclaimed barn siding used as flooring unties the first floor living areas. Fixtures, finishes and colors were carefully chosen to enhance the architecture. In lieu of formal spaces, the homeowners chose to create rooms with multi-purposes. A large room with ceilings that soar and a large fireplace with tile surround serves as a living room. A portion of the living room can be called into duty as a dining room when needed.

CupolaA large, country kitchen with vaulted ceilings and motorized skylights is the heart of the home. Painted white cabinets with bead-board detailing give the kitchen a clean, crisp look. The kitchen island of Pyrolava, a French product, adds a unique twist. A large cupola creates a light well that floods the main staircase, upstairs hall and kitchen with light-adding drama and also providing airflow throughout the house. Off the kitchen is a gathering room used as a cozy den and eating area. A screened porch with a fireplace extends the gathering room in three seasons and provides a perfect spot to view the park-like setting.

The master bedroom is located on the first level. French doors lead from the master bedroom to a walled brick terrace. The exposed beams are painted white to create a calming retreat. The master bath, outfitted with a heated towel bar and steam shower, makes the retreat complete.

BedroomAn all-purpose mudroom/laundry area with satillo tile floors, bead-board wainscoting, and custom cabinetry is entered through a breezeway from the detached garage. A home office or first floor guestroom with attached bath completes the utilitarian section of the house. Back stairs lead to
a second floor playroom with built-ins and plenty of storage.

A large bedroom with expansive windows, sloping ceilings and a study nook is off the playroom. The front bedrooms feature cathedral ceilings, exposed beams and unique angles made more interesting by the post and beam construction. A large shared bath with a whirlpool tub and twin sinks serves the front bedrooms. A cozy guest bedroom with dormered windows and angled ceilings provides a gracious retreat.

This home unites the best of modern technology and construction techniques with time-honored post and beam. The mix of the old and new creates a livable home with a lot of character.
